Overview
This year’s forum will focus on the new industrial revolution and the digital economy, exploring how fast-evolving industrial and technological trends are playing out against the backdrop of a turbulent global economic and political climate. The race for competiveness around key technologies such as automation, artificial intelligence and next generation batteries is central to both the UK’s and China’s industrial strategies. Meanwhile, long-standing assumptions about globalization have come under unprecedented challenge.
Announced by Premier Li Keqiang and former prime minister David Cameron at the UK-China Summit in 2014, the forum aims to enhance bilateral cooperation through sharing each country’s experience of reform and innovation, and improving understanding of how to address shared growth and development challenges. The inaugural forum was held in London during the state visit in November 2015. The second forum was held in Chengdu in November 2016, and focused on infrastructure and connectivity.
This event is held together with the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC).
Attendance is by invitation only.
