Shanghai International Film Festival was officially founded in 1993 upon the approval of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.

It is a non-specialized competitive international film festival recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations.

Supported by the rapid development of China’s film industry and the construction of Shanghai into an global cultural metropolis, the film festival has been building a professional and authoritative cultural exchange platform for foreign and domestic films, expanding its influence through the four major activities including the award, market, forum and film panorama, and enhancing its international communication through the “SIFF World Express” and “the Belt and Road”.

Adhering to innovations, Shanghai International Film Festival is making its best efforts to provide professional service for the industry, build an exchange platform for filmmakers around the world, create opportunities for promising newcomers, present foreign and domestic movie cultures for audiences, and contribute to development of China’s film industry.

The 21st Shanghai International Film Festival is scheduled to take place from June 16 to June 25. For the time being, production submissions are underway, so are other preparations and arrangements. The release of the official poster marks the beginning of countdown to the new edition of Shanghai International Film Festival.
