World Economic Analysis & Outlook (2017-2018)
China Watch | Updated: 2018-05-02 15:31

World Economic Analysis & Outlook is one of the two annual economic reports published by the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, which for nine years has tracked the changes in the domestic and international economies.

In 2017, the global economy saw stable development while international trade, finance and manufacturing industries showed a generally favorable trend. However, it may be several years before the long-term equilibrium is restored. It is expected that in 2018 the overall world economy will continue to improve. At the same time, uncertainties cannot be ignored.

The report’s three chapters cover the economic situation in major countries and regions, overall research on global trade; consumption, energy, science and innovation, emerging industries, big data and hotspot issues such as Brexit, predicaments in global governance, emerging market reform, the impact of US tax reform, and the US Federal Reserve’s balance-sheet reduction.

After years of exploration, this year’s research report has developed a new methodology, combining both quantitative and qualitative analysis, and emphasizing qualitative analysis through infographics. As the global economy interacts with social, cultural, scientific, religious and military factors, to comprehensively reflect the situation of the global economy, the new report also expands the scope of its research to these areas.
