China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi has said that if the United States wants to resolve its problems with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, seize the chance for peace and create history, now is the chance. He made the remark while meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Washington on May 23.

US President Donald Trump has cast doubt on his planned June 12 summit with DPRK leader Kim Jong-un, saying “there’s a very substantial chance that it won’t work out” in a conversation with Republic of Korea President Moon Jae-in on May 22.

Wang also said China hopes the DPRK-US summit will go ahead as scheduled when he exchanged views with British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and his German counterpart, Heiko Maas, on May 21 at a G20 foreign ministers’ meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
