United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday commended China's contributions to UN peacekeeping efforts, saying Chinese police peacekeepers have displayed outstanding professional competence and ethnics.

China has adhered to "the highest standards" in its process of selecting and training its police peacekeepers, who have strictly abided by UN peacekeeping work rules and discipline requirements, Guterres said during his meeting with the Chinese delegation attending the second UN Chiefs of Police Summit.

He said the UN appreciates China's support for UN police peacekeepers' capacity building and expects China to play a greater role in peacekeeping.
