EU foreign policy chief: no plan to target China

The European Union regards China as its key strategic partner and has no intention to take any policy action against China, said Federica Mogherini, the EU foreign policy chief.
Reiterating that the EU and China are long-term close friends, she made the remarks during a meeting with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of a series of foreign ministers’ meetings for the East Asian cooperation, last week in Singapore.
Mogherini's stance followed a joint US-EU statement to work toward free trade and zero tariffs after European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker visited Washington on July 25. Noting that unilateralism and unstable trends are on the rise, Wang said China and the EU should closely cooperate to deepen strategic cooperation and safeguard multilateralism.
