The promise to create one million jobs in the United States will not be fulfilled, said Jack Ma, founder and executive chairman of Alibaba. The commitment was based on the premise that Sino-American friendship, cooperation and bilateral trade was rational and objective, according to a report by Xinhua.
Ma stressed that trade is not a weapon for war but should be a propeller of peace. The current situation has undermined the original premise, and commitment cannot be fulfilled.
But we will continue our efforts, push forward the healthy development of China-US trade, Ma said. Though protectionism rising, there are still many opportunities, he added, in Europe, Russia, Southeast Asia, Africa and South America.
