China’s firm opposition to protectionism and its support for upholding the rules-based multilateral trading system was positively echoed at the just finished 12th Asia-Europe Meeting Summit, Xinhua News Agency said.

As the indispensable global forces in today’s world, Europe and China “have an important responsibility for the maintenance of multilateralism”, Xinhua quoted the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, as saying.

Premier Li Keqiang delivered a speech at the summit and met European politicians. China put forward the initiative of promoting development between Asia and Europe through connectivity, which has received a positive response from the European side, and the word multilateralism was much used, Xinhua reported.
